fyot,
very usefull: i completed your information with the 6.3.01
Agent version 6.3.021 use protocol version 7.0
So the controlm server 6.3.01 for default use protocol version 7.0.
If you have some agent in other versions you must change in ctm_menu utility menu the protocol version with the correct value.

Okay there must be multiple versions out there then. The one I see linked on our support page shows protocol version 06.

I did find in the Admin guide on page 56 it says protocol version 07 for windows only.
http://documents.bmc.com/supportu/docum ... /63762.pdf
It would be nice for BMC to keep the guides consistent.
But if anyone has a link saying it should be 07 for a Solaris agent I'd be interested in the read.
thanks
Steve

Document 63762 is server installation guide. Page 60 shows you an example where and how to set protocol number. Because it is an example, it should not be authoritative. With protocol 06, this maybe a strict copy from an older documentation.
Document 57702 is agent admin guide. Page 56 describes the communication number at agent under advaced parameter. This is authoritative and is correct. The printing of "(Windows only)" should not be there. For example SSL setting exists in Windows and Unix agents. Protocol number at agent should be left as is. Protocol number is dependent on version only. Same version on all platforms share the same number.
Document 57941 is server admin guide (or the updated 70241 for FP3). Page 375 describes the setting of protocol number to specific agent. There is a default agent protocol number at server. Any agent that is not at this default protocol number should be set correspondingly at server. The protocol numbers starting from agent 2.25 are listed here. The list is correct and authoritative.
Hope this can clear up the minds.
