Control-M Questions

Post by ayanendu_de » 19 Mar 2010 11:27

Hi,

I have some questions on Control-M. Could you please let me know the answer?

1) If I search in unix machine using "os -ef | grep ctm", which processes will be displayed? Server processes or Agent processes

2) What are the default ids to login into a) Control-M EM b) Control-M Server c) Control-M Agent ?

3) Where are the Timezone.dat files stored? Datacenter of Control M EM

4) Which command do we need to use to configure agent? ctmagcfg or ctmag. Does ctmag replaces ctmagcfg?

5) Which command do we use to configure CM server or CM agent? ctm_menu/root_menu/ctmagcfg

6) What is the default id to run a job on agent machine?

7) Which one is the proper order to start CM services?
a) Start CM server Database and CM server process
b) Start CM server process and CM server Database

8) Where do we need to install Control Module? CM server / CM EM / Each client

Thanks

1) ps -ef | grep ctm -> you will see all of CTM processes. Server and Agent processes contains the 'ctm' string.
(and also you will see your grep command :) )

2) i cant clearly understand but:
a) ctmem, b) ctmsrv, c) ctmag (in 6.4. version it is ctmsrv)

3) Datacenter

4) ctmagcfg. ctmag - i think, it is gui utility, it is the difference.

5) ctm_menu - server, ctmagcfg - agent

6) i cant clearly understand:
on which machine? windows and unix are different :).

7) a

8) each client? (not each, only the one, we have chosen to run the module) and 'support' for EM.

fuu, I hope, i have passed the exam.
Where are these questions from?

Looks good to me but #8 can be a bit of a trick question, the CM is installed on each agent it is required generally but for example, we use a central agent for all SAP instances, requiring only one install of the SAP CM to cover the whole SAP production environment.
