Control m server migration

Post by my_siva » 12 Feb 2014 9:13

Hi All,

Currently our control m server is in HP-UX. We planning to migrate it AIX, Linux or Windows servers. Can anyone help to highlight the positives and negatives in migrating to AIX or Linux Vs Windows server so that we can explore our options. Thanks for the help.

This migration is a Major Proyect

I recommend to open the proyect (it's a big project) in Aix or Linux, not in Windows. Just, because CTM takes more advantages from AIX/Linux services and windows not have too much to do here. (it's microsoft, and all their problems with windows platform).

Check that you have the instalable software from BMC. Do not migrate no a new version of Control-M, only change the operating System and then export/import XML fron database schema for a quickly implementation.

You can migrate from one Platform to another one.
Of course depends on jobs number you have, but is possible and now there inst disadvantages to move from unix to Windows.
You can have Windows for Enterprise manger Server and unix/Linux for servers, for example.

You can also migrate to the newer controlM version, do with care and do this project with a BMC control-M cerfied partner, but is better to have the last version.
