Urgent: Email arrived to user two hours later than it should

Post by linwufeifan » 18 Jul 2013 4:53

My user complained that sometimes he received the job end email two hours later than the job end itself.
But in the control-m log I found that the email was sent on time.
If you check out below log, you will see that the email was sent just after the job was end.

So my question is how can I know if it's a control-m issue or others, like network? Is there a way to check the email queue and see if it really sent out on time from control-m? Thanks a lot.

The end job and email send log:
17/07/2013 06:45:42 TR5100 ENDED AT 20130717064542. OSCOMPSTAT 0. RUNCNT 1

Where to start ?

SO MANY places to check. Yes, Control-M posted it. You have to check your local eMail server to see the delay between the eMail server received it, and then when the eMail server sent it. Then you need a way to check when the local user's eMail server received it (assuming the user is not using the same eMail server as control-M.). Finally the user induced problems. How often does the user check the mail.

CTM sends message via SMTP relay. You should check SMTP server or check email header to determine where the delay is.
