For a couple of months now we have our CONTROL-M/EM Web Launch capability that eliminates the need to manually install the software on each and every desktop as described at the thread.
As for a Linux GUI, see the comment for that topic. With respect to a pure Web application, we did look into it but found out for a rich and dynamic application as the EM GUI, Web software development technologies are not yet mature enough.
