Dear All,

As you know, BMC released CONTROL-M 700 a few month ago.

I would like to hear from you what is your expectations for the next major release (800?)

how would you like to enhance the product?
what are the most important fields that BMC should invest and develop for the CONTROL-M?

I will appreciate any of your comments...

Thanks,
Moti.

THE NEXT GENERATION OF CONTROL-M

The best thing that can be done to enhance Control-M in the next version is to improve post-processing capabilities. This can be done by enhancing the steps by providing a basic language or script. Just the inclusion of IF/ELSE statements and/or SELECT statements would make an enormous difference to the ability of schedulers to determine how to take action based on job results. The current method of running ON statements one after the other makes it very difficult to allow flexibility.

- improve upgrade - tool for automatically migrate data from old installations
- improve CCM installation - install CCM from Configuration Manager
- IF/ELSE statement
- better resource control - for example, ability to control how much CPU job can use
- better drag&drops functionalities - possibility to put job "box" exactly where I want it on the screen (Control-M Desktop)

Oh, another thing:
CONTROL-M Fix Pack installation doesn't know how to stop all CTM services and I must stop them manually.
This is not how modern installation procedures should works....

My wish list

- In Steps, be able to pick up value from SYSOUT and assign into AutoEdit
- job to start upon delete of existing IN condition
- IN/OUT condition of +/- n days rather than NEXT/PREV based on job ordering scheduling
- quantitative and control resources for SMART table

Some ideas

- Global Resources (QR and CR) shared between more Datacenter
- Resources QR and CR for Group Scheduling Table or Smart Table
- Ehanced Autoedit Facility in script definition like JCL in z/OS
- IF / THEN / ELSE in post processing actions vs ON statements in sequential mode one after one
- Multiple ON Statements Blocks
- Improve scheduling performance
- Define best practices

GLOBAL CONDITIONS WITHOUT EM

Hi Woody,
BMC can't just add an option to post global conditions without EM. EM is the component that holds all the Control-M/Servers together, so to post global conditions without EM would require some serious re-design of the whole software (or some in-house scripting).

Faclity to uload and down load scheduling infromation from from CSV or XML or even some standard Retatinal database.
Will make life lot more simpler in analysing and maintaning the schdduling information in diffrent environments.

Triggreing jobs based on a MQ messages or DB triggers will enable to get away from many CICS transactions.
Ruble based triggring mus be improved , beyond console messages

all mentioned +

- create a web console for EM view - not just per Datacenters

Easy integration between BMC CTM and BMC remedy would be top on my wishlist.

To integrate dacenters as walty suggested the very important thing is:
- GLOBAL RESOURCES
- also resources at TABLE LEVEL is very usefull.
- the possibilty to RERUN at TABLE level: rerun option in table.

Note:
The "self-service" the web gui connected to EM, is very usefull new component.

Hi Moti,

About this subject:

Possibility to disable the New Day Procedure (NDP)
Actually you can only change the New Day Time (delayed few hours later )
