Not sure whether you could do it directly from Control-M but through Remedy or ESD... you can. Control-M will send the message to Remedy and Remedy will send SMS to Mobile.

Hope this helps.

Hi

You must have SMS server able to send message for each mobile operators, and send a message to that server as you forward a message to a monitring server like NSM, TIVOLI or PATROL.

SMS alerts

Post by markf » 04 Apr 2008 1:53

Getting Control-M to issue alerts is no problem, but you will need some system that issues these as SMS (or voice messages or whatever). We use a product called Telalert and it works fine but it is expensive. Alerts go out as SMS or voice and the recipient needs to hit a key on their phone to acknowledge receipt (the system will start calling other people if it doesn't get an acknowledgement within 10 minutes). However, BMC now have a third-party partner that produces a product called Alarmpoint. You can even control the Control-M batch via little pagers that come supplied. I haven't used it myself but I saw a presentation of it looked good. Details at the BMC site.

Alternatively, you can probably find a third-party SMS provider - we have one we use in Australia called MessageNet.

Then your alert goes out as an email to phonenumber@smsprovider.com - exact details will be specific to the provider, the phone number will be the recipient phone number - set up your shouts to send the email, and the sender email address will need to be authorised with the SMS provider as authorised to send SMS's.

Cell phones now accept direct e-mail in the form

cellphonenumber@cellphoneprovider.com

It is a matter of asking your proivder what is the proper internet name, and whether your cell phone service plan allows incoming SMS. If you service plan does not include SMS, it may become costly onn a per-message basis.

Another word of caution: you may want to shout to a script which in turn sends the SMS message. As you know the subject line is repeated in the message body for shout going to e-mail. SMS message is limited to a certain number of characters, counting subject and body text together. Minimizing the message will be to your advantage if you are doing it.

I use the shout metod to send SMS, but this work if there is a program/server able to send sms messages.
I whant to complete "gglau":
If you send a shout to a program and this call the sms program you can have less limitation in the message and more flexibility.

Hi All

Another best way to receive alerts from control-m.
No need to use an sms server.

You need to install a web server available from internet,
using APS Manager from APS Enterprise (www.apsware.com).

APS Manager provides RSS feeds readable with all devices havinf an RSS client, including smartphone.

RSS feeds could be adapted, using filters, starting from ALARMS or ACTIVE Jobs existing in your Control-M/EM database.

Secure using https, and crypted url.
Already certified safe, and used by several big company.
