Unable to send SNMP trap from Control- M 6.2.01

Post by Pradeep » 28 Aug 2007 11:27

I'm trying to configure and send SNMP trap from Control -M 6.2.01 to HP OV. For some reason the trap is not going to HP OV. I also, tried downloading SNMP sender/reciever installed it on two servers Windows 2003 and tried sending trap it is going. But when we tried to fail a job the trap is not going. Any help would be highly appreciated.

You must set some system parameters:
go in the "administration facility" or "configuration manager" for v6.3 and in the system parameters\general:
set the following parameters:

SendSnmp = 0
SnmpSendFormat= 1
SnmpHost = HostName

The hostname is the name of the host were there is istalled the Snmp software that you have.

For the settings see also the documentation in the Control-M/EM server administration guide.

I have already configured these parameter form Administation Facility.

No traps are being send to SNMP trap reciever.

Please advise.

Try to send the SNMP message to a script configurig the parameter:
"SendAlarmToScript"

You can redirect messages sent to a file and so you can see if works.

This method is more flexible too:
you can filter the messages sent to the alerts to launch to the SNMP agent.

Control too if the snmp host is reachable by the server by name or IP...
once I have had this "problem"
:wink:
