Option to send Email from Control M for specific jobs

Post by Techtronic » 06 Dec 2011 2:40

Hello Friends,

I am new to this forum and to Control M. I have requirement where I will have to send Email after completion (OK) of some specific jobs in my trail. Close to 8 jobs individually.

currently my team is doing this manually and wanted to know if the same can be automated through Control - M.

These jobs are jobs in different groups and last jobs of a major subsystem in my job flow. Thanks for your help.

Easily done but it depends on the version of Control-M that you are using ...

Thanks Markf.

The version we are using is 7.0.00. The Control M is also maintained by another vendor and they are not able to configure email and I also do not have access to manually verify anything or configure.

It would greatly help, if you could guide with steps to set up the email for specific jobs.

Hello,
You first need to configure the SMTP protocol on CTM-Server.

In ctm_menu -> 5->6 "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol Parameters"
and theryou must fill the parameter:

Simple M ail Transfer Protocol Parameters Menu
----------------------------------------------

Select one of the following options:

1 - SMTP Server (Relay) Name : xxxx
2 - Sender Email : xxxxx
3 - Port Number : 25
4 - Sender Friendly Name : xxxxx
5 - Reply-To Email : xxxxx
6 - Test SMTP Settings

s - Save Parameters

After you done this, you can use the on/do statement "do mail".

regards
Vassilis

Thanks Gopikkd and Vassi168. I have passed on to my Vendor team.

From one of the persons, I got to know that control-m (version 7) has been moved to windows server (ATOS Control-m in AIX server) and there SMTP server is not installed in the windows server.

I am afraid that I will not be able to automate the manual work that is being done by the team.
