*** Missing CONTROL-M database component. *** message

Post by Noynoy » 16 Jan 2007 9:13

Hi,

I am trying to install Control-M/EM 6.2 in our new server. Our dba have setup the database and the accounts for the database for use to use. I have also updated the .cshrc file for the Control-M/EM unix account so that it can access the database (can run tnsping and sqlplus). But when we try to run the setup.sh to install the EM, I got this message that the database component is missing. Below is the details of our setup:

1. Is it from a CD or download? CD number or download filename?
CD is from BMC
2. What CONTROL-M components are you installing? Are there any other CONTROL-M components
already installed?
No components installed yet as this is a new server
3. What OS Platform/OS version?
Sun Solaris 9
4. What Database/DB version? Is this dedicated or existing? Is it installed in the default location?
Oracle 9.2.0.4. The database is existing and is installed in default location

thanks and best rgds,
noynoy

Hi,

I don't know exactly about Oracle database installation.
So I can tell you about general installation.
In fact, following BMC documentation (You can download it from here), the best way is to use BMC database installation process.

BMC's scripts install all database components including some tables, views and data need to launch Control-EM installation.

I'm almost sure,your database installation isn't completed.

Hi,

Have the required Unix users been setup?
Have the system parameters been setup?
Have you done the custom DB install for EM and setup the parameters?
You need to do a pre, custom and post install of Oracle DB.
Have you done an Oracle Client install for EM?
You need to do a pre, custom and post install of Oracle Client.
Once DB and client has been installed, perfrom EM installation.
