I am trying to apply a fixpack to CM/EM 6.3.01 on Server_1. The database is on a different physical server (call it Server_2), and the Server_2 already runs our development environment CM/EM.
We setup a temporary Oracle database, also on Server_2, just to get the install done because we are moving our production CM/EM db to this new server soon. When we move, we'll then point this new CM/EM installation to the production Oracle database, which will be on Server_1 with this CM install I am doing.
Trying install the fixpack, I get this.....
Installing Fix Pack PANFT.6.3.01.500 for CONTROL-M/EM Version 6.3.01
Unix User: em630
CONTROL-M/EM installation directory: /opt/controlm/em630

I can't stop the naming service because its not local. It's the naming
service on the current development server.
%em630> stop_ns_daemon
Naming Service is running on a remote machine, rchdev1.mckesson.com:13075 Use the ns stop command with -local switch to stop the local service
How can I get around this without bringing down our live naming service?
