This error was received when trying to invoke the ABAP Program Variant Name from Control-M, even though I could load the ABAP program name fine. What I found was that I was referencing the Report Output Program, instead of the actual program name where I created the Variant. Make sure the program name you are referencing in the Control-M job is the actual program where the variant was created.
