Moving tables from control-M/EM 6.1 to control-M/EM 6.3

Post by SreeMahi » 19 Nov 2008 2:39

Hi All,

I'm moving one table from control-M/EM 6.1 to control-M/EM 6.3. I've exported table using 'exportdeftable' command and i've edited the datacenter name to match new one. but when i'm importing table i'm getting an error.
Error:

Failed to establish connection with the GUI-Server running on <prod>, with the given username [ZZZ].

One of the following reasons might lead into this failur:
- Server name is misspelled.
- Invalid username/password were entered.
- GUI-server component is down.
- Orbix services are not well tuned over a correct listening port
(check the port number under OrbixE2A.cfg file).
I'm just stuckup here.

Can anyone please help me out.

Thanks in Advance,
Mahi

is this the message you've got back when importing tables by using deftable ?????
did you use xml form in exportdeftable ?

this message doesn't matter about exortdeftable.....

Hi SreeMahi, the error shown in your original post is because the import is looking at your old Control-M environment. I assume you are doing this operation on the one PC (hence the problems). What you need to do is;

1. Export to XML and save locally on desktop (or wherever) as you have already done.
2. Edit XML as required (as you have done).
3. Log into EM GUI in the new environment.
4. Run the DOS CMD window and navigate to the new EM bin directory (possibly C:\Program Files\BMC Software\CONTROL-M EM 6.3.01\Default\bin ??).
5. Run your import command from here using the input file saved in step 2 and remember to use the Control-M name for the destination server.
