Install 6.4.01 ControlM EM Client + Reporting Facility.Oracl

Hi....

Can some one help with the install of 6.4.01 with EM + Reporting Facility ... I have installed oracle 10.2 not sure where to go from there....it would be of great healp if some one can send me the step by step of install of the same....

I went through the document of install BMC provides its so confusing.......

Hello Paula,
You need to give some more details in order to help you...

First of all, are you installing on Winodws or Unix/Linux ?

Second, are you going to use your own Oracle installation or are you going to use the Oracle provided by BMC ?

I am trying to ControlM Client + Reporting Facility get installed on my desktop ..

We have ControlM EM GUI Server on UNIX.....with DB on Oracle which was not provided by BMC

Hello Paula,
I have run into the same problem with this....
It seems that if you install your own client of Oracle, the reporting facility will not install....You will get an error that it cannot connect to host or something like that...

For sure from what I remember, you must install and use the oracle client provided by BMC for the installation to work.

There are a lot of issues in the Knoledge base of BMC with that problem...

Check them and you will find helpful things.

I was able to install E/M client on my Win XP machine without any issues. I used an Oracle client that i downloaded.

1. Run the Setup.exe
2. Accept the Agreement & choose 'Control-M/Enterprise Manager Client'
( check Reporting facility since u need it)
3. Select Db type as Oracle
4. Key in the EM DB user and password
5 Enter The Corba Service hostname and the Port Number ( Used while installing and Configuring EM on your Unix Server)

This should do it if you have all the information right.

when I try to Install 6.4 EM it doesnt ask me the Database type

Hi Dimtris,

I am trying to install the oracle client provided by BMC but when I try to install it ...getting an error not able to connect due to wrong port/Datbase name / server name... even after giving the right parameters...
