This situation arose because of the architecture - EM originally developed as different product than the Control-M Server. The EM security has been added later and they don't link in any convenient way for admin purposes. The good news is that the last few versions have allowed administration within...

Peter - be sure to install patch 600 - it was only released yesterday but I applied it to the EM and it cleared lots of little issues that I had with the Config Manager.

The PAC charts on the BMC site have the supported OS lists (in great detail). Most things are supported by version 6.4.x.

Unless the bank holidays are completely predictable dates then you cannot do this without a calendar.

The latest versions of Control-M can send the sysout as the body of an email (older versions - pre-6.3 - can also do this but you need to script it). Use of the ctmpsm command on the Control-M Server is often the most flexible way to get the sysout. Please supply Control-M version and OS if you want...

You need some sort of system to handle the paging. We use TelAlert, but that is not specific to Control-M (it plus into SNMP framwork tools). BMC have partnered with a 3rd party to sell "AlarmPoint" which is a pager-based sytem that alarms and also allows basic Control-M functions to be run from the...

I have just migrated from Sybase to Oracle (and from 613 to 631 at the same time) and the DB stuff was fairly transparent. Using the XML import/ export utilities makes things very easy. I can't comment on performance issues, our Control-M only has 2,000 daily jobdefs to run. We did the move as part ...

I would strongly advise that the Control-M Server be run on your most robust and reliable platform. In my experience that would mean avoiding MS-SQL.

Try using the Control-M name as the destination server anyway ... also, you can check the Corba config by running the "test config" routine from the Java pop-up in the EM system.

Do you have more than 1 Control-M server installed? If so, try using the Control-M name instead of the server name.

Hi SreeMahi, the error shown in your original post is because the import is looking at your old Control-M environment. I assume you are doing this operation on the one PC (hence the problems). What you need to do is; 1. Export to XML and save locally on desktop (or wherever) as you have already done...

SMS alerts

Getting Control-M to issue alerts is no problem, but you will need some system that issues these as SMS (or voice messages or whatever). We use a product called Telalert and it works fine but it is expensive. Alerts go out as SMS or voice and the recipient needs to hit a key on their phone to acknow...
