I'm not sure that this world work via PRECMD, the setting of variables is a sensitive thing (just getting the %% to work is often problem as the characters need escaping). The way I run it is to set the variables in one job and use them later in separate jobs like so (example is Windows, probably is...

This would be very simple if BMC had Control-M variables that displayed the month as an alphabetic word (in addition to digits). But they don't so we need to do a little work. On the SET panel calculate yesterday's date - VAR NAME ---------- VALUE ======= --------- ===== YESTERDAY_VAR -- %%CALCDATE ...

Well the best "trick" is to split them up into separate User Dailies (the manual mentions this). Say you have several tables where the jobs run much later than the rest then it makes sense to spin those off into their own User Daily. Individual jobs can also slow the NDP if you use lots of 'clever' ...

Well you have to rediscover it as a 'normal' agent after that but there is another step that is sometimes necessary - on your Control-M Server got to ctm_server/data. Inside that directory is the AGSTAT directory, where all the Agent info is kept. Alongside the AGSTAT directory is another directory ...

Yes, this is a simple process. Configure the "CONTROL-M/Server Do Remedy parameters" (see page 398 of the CM Server Admin Guide) and then use the "DO Remedy" option in the Job Definition.

The Windows structure is completely different to Unix. In the Unix environment you usually install the Agent under 'root'. The Control-M Agent will do a "su - owner_userid" when you run the job (it can do this thanks to the root privilege). Obviously the userid has to exist on the Agent box. Two ext...

You should also be aware that lots of conditions sitting in the AJF will load the system; it is best to delete input conditions once you have finished with them.

If you have the Agent running as "Allow interaction with desktop" then this is possible but you can only select "Allow interaction with desktop" if the Agent is running as "System" on the Windows box. Using "Allow interaction with desktop" is seen as big security flaw and many companies would not be...

Normally you don't need the router component running unless there is a firewall between the Control-M Server and Agent.

archu - with that version of Control-M it is actually easier and 'cleaner' to do this via the CONTROL-M Configuration Manager (highlight the Agent in question and right-click/delete).

If you do want to keep it all on the one command line then you can link commands with the usual conditional processing, try && in between the sleep cmd and the rest of it.

The SNMP number used to be .954. This number was property of New Dimension (the original creators of Control-M) but the newer releases (i.e. at least 6.3.1) say that this is now .1031 (BMC's number). HOWEVER , when I migrated to 6.3.1 (from 6.1.3) I updated to the 'new' number and the alerts were ig...
